So Twitter turned off anonymous reading today.
I'm not logged in on this iPad so any twitter dot com link I inadvertently click on shoves an obnoxious login popup in my face.
... So I'm about to block/mute toots containing twitter links.
Bye, Elon, don't let the doorknob hit you on the ass on your way out.
@sarajw @andy Still MDN, just don't use the AI Help feature (which is labelled 'beta').
To be clear: I think this is huge & fundamental error by MDN, it should be removed as fast as possible and must never return … but … it has no direct impact on the information that is already there. You just have to know to not use it. Unfortunately most visitors won't know.
@andy “Expected behavior: I would like MDN to contain correct information” 😬
It's only been 3 days since I did #TheWeekInTory, but that hasn't stopped them. It hasn't even slowed them down. It's an absolute blizzard of chaos.
(There's a mistake in this - I refer to Johnson's time as Home Secretary, I meant Foreign Secretary)
The UK government's announcement that websites will need to verify or estimate the age of users to stop kids from seeing pron ignores risks to privacy.
Collecting large pools of biometric data without proper governance structures in place will swap one harm for another.

How to tell an app like RingGo is selling you... It demands an email address, but accepts spam@google.com and doesn't even bother to require an opt in link, and multiple accounts with the same mobile number are not allowed.
Hint: only the mobile number needs to be valid. You can delete your old account via the registration flow, so just delete app after using it once.
The attack on encryption is an attack on democracy in the digital age. That is why at @digitalcourage we have co-signed the letter against the disproportionate surveillance measures of the UK online safety bill, together with @edri, @openrightsgroup and many more:

Congratulations to Danny Mason and all at Reach Lasers on their incredible laser installation at the Arcadia stage at Glastonbury. I’m so happy that my new laser show software Liberation ran flawlessly throughout the 4 day event that featured The Chemical Brothers, Floating Points, Daphni, Dubkasm, Skepta, Skream, and Plastician.

I am amused to see that the author’s collection of INTERCAL resources includes an article you wrote about it back in 1992. http://www.muppetlabs.com/~breadbox/intercal/iarticle.html

I really want everyone to pivot back from video. I fucking hate video. Do not ever make me watch a video just to obtain information. Making me watch a video instead of giving me text I can read is an act of violence against me specifically. When will it end.

@neil It's hard to imagine any plan working that requires a random Mastodon instance admin to successfully sue Meta over breach of their terms of use, which Meta never explicitly agreed to.
I'm not saying it's impossible that they'd be in the right, legally speaking. I'm saying the amount of legal fees involved would be utterly unworkable.
