We now know that Waymo has the capability to kidnap any passenger and take them anywhere without their permission.

@thisismyglasgow My first flat in Edinburgh still had a lock like this. We had a key for it, but we found that with a bit of practice we could stick a finger in the lock and lift the latch with that!

My favourite bit was the lever on each floor, linked to the latch by chains running down the building through tubes. You could unlatch the door remotely by lifting a lever, and you’d hear the metallic clunk several floors below.

This is an unoriginal thought at this point but I will say it anyway: If the RAMpocalypse hadn't happened and Valve could have gotten the lower spec of the Steam Machine in at $700, the reviews for it would have been ecstatic

This was my computer setup back in 1993. I’ve wanted to recreate it but have never been able to find an AT case like this one. I’d appreciate any tips on identifying it. The DFI logo is a red herring. That’s a badge I put on it myself back then.

@TheJen This concept is in "The Meaning of Liff".

Nottage (n.)

Nottage is the collective name for things which you find a use for immediately after you've thrown them away. For instance, your greenhouse has been cluttered up for years with a huge piece of cardboard and great fronds of gardening string. You at last decide to clear all this stuff out, and you burn it. Within twenty-four hours you will urgently need to wrap a large parcel, and suddenly remember that luckily in your greenhouse there is some cardb...

#ScribesAndMakers Jul 8: How many spaces do you like after a period/full stop?

Listen this is the Year of our Lord 2026 and nearly all of us are typing on computers, not a goddamn Smith-Corona, and you will use ONE (1) space after the period like a modern homo sapiens.

Breaking news, not from the Clacton and Frinton Gazette, in the middle of this thread:

#NigelFarage's resignation, in the oddball way that that has to be done in the U.K. Parliament, has just been accepted.

Rachel Reeves just said in Another Place:
> It is a farce and a desperate distraction, and the people of Clacton deserve better.

> But if he wants to spend the summer arguing with a bin, I won’t stop him.

RT: @SaulStaniforth #BBCBreakfast to Zia Yusuf: "The Reform leader.. is billing it as the people versus the establishment by-election.. it looks like it could just be Nigel Farage versus a man with a bin on his head. That's a bit embarrassing isn't it"

Had an old Sinclair ZX Spectrum replica sitting around (a modern Bluetooth replica one, made by Elite) so I decided to frame it! Just used a sticky Velcro on the back so it can easily be removed without damage, if I ever use it again. I put a loading screen background in there, too. I reckon it looks pretty good! 🤓 #retrocomputing #zxspectrum #art

Hi Raspberry Pi experts, I can't sort out this error: 'GPIO not allocated' for a HyperPixel 4.0 rectangular touchscreen connected to a pi 4B. Here is the full report I filed at the support forum:

What can cause this error if no other devices are using the pins? How to overcome it?

⚠️ Best for Britain CEO, Naomi Smith:

If anyone here has an #anritsu MS269x series Signal Analyzer, I need one file from the C: drive. The "C:\Program Files\Anritsu Corporation\Signal Analyzer\Applications\PanelKey.xml" file contains the mapping for the rubber key pad in the front. Someone deleted the contents of this file on my unit and the keyboard does not work. Can someone help and share the original file contents?
