After MANY months of consideration, and many MORE hours of work, I've finally migrated my website from WordPress to Hugo!

I'm still playing with settings, themes, etc, but so far I'm pretty happy with it. What finally pushed me to make the change was the new DigitalOcean App Platform, which was a breeze to use.

Check it out! (Website link + blog post about the change below)

@se7en @jess Colossus left an impression on me that I'll never forget, and that no AI movie has since matched.

Part of that was the theme, part was the styling, but mostly it was the ridiculousness.

@kai no wisdom here... But keep seeking it. Sorry you're having trouble in each of these ways.

This is a tough time to change jobs.

@cincodenada @tripofmice haha, your instance was the only one running that I could find. Pretty neat... I've been slacking on posting more - it makes me want to get involved with improving the project though.

Goodreads has really stagnated and it's not a good social network.

Want to create a channel for personal use? It's surprisingly easy if you do it the hard way, and hard if you try to do it the easy way.

Wrong facts

@alexbuzzbee I was actually just thinking today about how it's one of my favorite batteries.

Wrong facts

@alexbuzzbee clearly it was discovered in the year 2032 and has somehow folded back upon time to get here now...

I want someone to make "karate kid: covid". He'd learn to defeat opponents with his mind only, no touching. And he'd train his mind by making bread. In the dough-jo.

@amerika yeah that's a lot closer to what I actually believe.

That's why sourdough starters are on such a rise during this time with more death than usual. It inflates yeast's numbers. Another dough joke here.

When we die we are reincarnated as human. Not all in one spot. Your mind fragments and becomes part of all the human minds.

(Not something I actually believe, just an idea that occurred to me as possible story line)

“Packaging Kubernetes for Debian”:
lwn.net/SubscriberLink/835599/

This raises key questions: bundling (“vendoring”) and its implications, contemporary #FreeSoftware development practices and their impact on distro relevance, avoiding/resolving technical disputes, and more.

#Guix has answers to some issues but is otherwise in a situation similar to that of #Debian.

I just made a shitpost in a thread on the birdsite and was sure to provide citation and indicate omitted material in a quote with ellipses and I feel like that says a lot of what you ought to know about me.

Thanks for being a totally decent and yet entirely entertaining person, Alex Trebek.

San Antonio to Columbus, OH, to Baxley, GA, to San Antonio. Over a week... Still, that was a lot of driving...

I think my butt has a permanent dent now where my mask sits in my back pocket.

Mock PT Test Results

@sean not bad.

(Unsolicited advice follows, sorry) One easy way to get ready is to do a set of pushups and sit-ups every commercial break, or every 10 min per a countdown timer if you're not watching tv but are doing something interruptible. If you can escape the mando events now, maybe put yourself on your own personal 5-day/wk workouts permanently - as a precaution.

@sean lol. Yeah, everyone did because of covid. You got this. Plenty of slack in there.

@cwebber@octodon.social a lot of folks on the right felt like that in 2016...
