Day 26: Mask
I found this little guy on a tomb in the tiny village of Wherwell (where the myth of the Cockatrice came from) and loved him so thought I’d make him into a print. Not sure of his origins other than that!

Plate from M. E. Descourtilz’s Atlas des Champignons (1827), a delightful series of colour lithographs of mushrooms, divided into those that are edible, poisonous and “suspect” — https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/atlas-des-champignons/
Pied-billed Grebe with minnow. This little one kept me entertained in the moonlight before dawn on Saturday, I was glad it stuck around for some actual decent shooting light! 😆
Taylor Creek, Lake Tahoe, CA
Pictures taken this week at Burrator reservoir and from Tavistock viaduct, it’s looking a lot like Autumn 🍂, #Dartmoor, #Devon. #photography #mosstodon
A bit of autumnal forest dampness on a hike today. A little dark, a little spooky, but mostly just pretty.
Twin Falls trail, Olallie State Park, Central Cascades in Washington State (USA).

One of the new illustrations…
I’ll be getting some prints done when I’ve finished a few more new pieces. Hopefully they will be available by the end of October.

I checked on my favorite belted #kingfisher and he's still there 2 months later. Same tree, just facing the other direction. Rocking the punk hair gloriously. Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria, Virginia, USA 4-Oct-2024 #birds #birdphotography #naturephotography
Walk in the rain along home stretch of River Wharfe. Sycamore lying across the river, loud cracks coming from big rootball as roots snapped and tree turned downstream.
Two more trees trapped on bridge cutwaters 100m upstream, just a few weeks after two were removed from cutwaters.
Summer rain makes trees top heavy in saturated soil and river/wind brings them down.
If they can be left in situ they diversify river habitats, benefitting wildlife ... and 1/2....
