, has been a terrible time together. Your change to a subscription model with bribes for "Founding members" has been an inspiration to find alternatives and part ways.

@frayoshi I noticed while watching one of the presentations from Adobe MAX a week or two ago that some Topaz AI products are now included in some of Adobe's products. I suppose Adobe might eventually acquire Topaz. Personally, I've been trying out a lot of the FOSS apps like GIMP, Krita, Inkscape, Scribus, Friction, Kdenlive, Audacity, Ardour, etc. - they're actually pretty good in 2025. I know Krita and Audacity have some AI integration, but I'm not sure of the others.

@jay I already use those apps, I'm a full time user/creator 😄 I do not personally like .. I try to avoid it 🤣 If I can, I go with in its place 😊 About same thing, I tend to go with instead, and for , my is 😄
About ... my guess is the same as yours, and I'm also worried we might eventually loose our access to the now-forgotten lifetime versions.. Which at the moment, is one of the few reasons why I still need to maintain a ..
What I'm surprised of.. is that the perpetuals of still work, at least for my version! Even if Adobe purchased them from .. so there's hope I guess 😅 Still, it's not through Steam, so who knows.. tags

@frayoshi 👍 I have a dual-boot Win / Linux setup for the same reason 😄 I have older copies Topaz, Adobe CS/CC, and Substance too. I actually haven't installed my latest copies of Substance Designer/Painter - I hope they still work 😂 I was checking out ComfyUI last month, but I currently hop onto Hugging Face Spaces when I need a touch of AI assistance. The Intel OpenVINO extension for Audacity on Win is impressive though - not smooth to set up, but quite powerful and easy to use... so far 🤞

@jay @frayoshi P.S. - I just noticed the Linux penguin icon in your display name 😀

@jay
Ooooh, the CS/CC versions of ... when things were still great and purchasing was owning, those good old times.... Have used CS6/CC extensively, until I've decided to move to , where I needed to rebuild my workflows from scratch 😄 Took me a good year to get ready to leave Adobe behind, and 2 in total to get comfortable with all the new tools :)
Exception made for the processing, with that one, I've never been able to get comfortable XD
Luckily, Affinity exists :) even if we need a VM (or dual boot like you) to run it..

Regarding Substance, version 2020 from Steam is still working for me, so hopefully will yours too 😄

Another interesting piece of software (not FOSS, tho) is by MakhamDev, I use it via Proton on Steam, and works relatively well considering it is made for Windows.. but ehi, it works and is fairly cheap (10$), still need to learn it properly, have just reopened today after a while 😄

On , I've never used it directly for processing, I generally just download the models and load them into , either on the local machine, or on a rented one depending on the size of the model and if it requires fp8 native calculations 🙂 About the OpenVINO.... have heard of it, but never explored!

.... And yes, I have a penguin that I wear with love! 🐧😄

@frayoshi Thanks for the good info! 👍 I need to assemble a new tower PC one of these days to tackle more on-device AI experimentation. If you're using CMYK for printing, perhaps Scribus might help... scribus.net 👀 I installed Scribus 1.7 Beta on Win & Linux, but I haven't played around with it yet - it's like InDesign / QuarkXPress. Good luck 👍

Before deciding to use Affinity, I was indeed using a similar workflow @jay , / Blender > (for the conversion) and as a final step 😄
But it's really rare that I have to deal with CMYK these days... ^^
Even if, I would love to have CMYK working in Inkscape direct, you never know when you need it ! :)

I know that someone at Inkscape was recently working on it.. was it you @doctormo ?
