I thought we had around ~1.5 M accounts, but your numbers seem to show that we peaked at 12 M (!). Am I misreading your numbers or is there genuinely a discrepancy?
If so, any idea why?
@codesections There are different ways of counting. My count comes from instances.social, which covers mastodon and pleroma nodes but not GNU social, peertube, etc. I've seen credible total numbers of acounts up to 3 million; however, the number of LIVE accounts is something I don't yet have a methodology for and is probably much smaller.
@freemo There's only 470 Mexicans on Mastodon? We gotta fix that
