He was supposed to be captured alive, due to his value as a scientist, but he was killed by a Roman soldier instead, supposedly saying 'Don't disturb my circles' because he was still working on mathematics like a madman when the city was on fire.
@freemo Yeah... A lot of knowledge was lost. Always sad.
