Not just trauma but plenty of genetic disorders (like depression) can also be at the root, usually untreated.

My alcoholic father never beat me when he was sober. Taking the drug away from the abuser is more compassionate than claiming the victims lack compassion. We are not laughing. We just understand the situation better.

@Meachamus_Prime Both are victims of different things. Victimhood is hardly mutually exclusive. One generation's victim often becomes the abuser as well as a consequence of that victimhood creating more victims.

The victim is NOT the drug abuser.
