Wow just hit 6K followers! That's a whole 1,500 new followers in about a week, was just a few days ago I passed the 5K mark.

I am overwhelmed and happy to have so many new followers and I look forward to hearing everyone's insights and opinions in the future!

@freemo Ok I'm really jealous of this nyan cat set of emotes right now

@freemo It says 4.7K followers here on my Mastodon.. Are qoto-internal followers not counted maybe?

@stevenroose No usually what happens, I think, is you only see the follower count of the people your instance federates with. So the number you see locally is always a bit smaller.

You will see the same difference in follower count with most foreign accounts.

@freemo Hmm, that's all very curious. I didn't think my #Mastodon account would even do calculations on your followers, I would think it would just show the number your instance reports. If I click the followers button, I only see people from my own instance anyway, so I thought that was the only distinction Mastodon would make. Very curious. @Gargron Any chance you could chip in and explain?

@Gargron @freemo Oh interesting. So it's kind of a delay because my instance doesn't update the followers count every hour/day?

@stevenroose

For example locally you show as having 95 followers but if i view your profile on your own instance it says 101 followers
