Most people don't know how to enjoy alcoholic drinks. I disliked them too, until I discovered this guy http://www.ralfy.com/
who finally clearly explained and illustrated what its all about:
You should smell and sip, any swallowed amount is wasted amount, a bottle should last for months. Most alcohol in shops is poor quality, because it's aimed at people who would waste it anyway (take shots or mix it with random stuff).

@snow @freemo You can't get people to not drink, it has been tried many times before and the only ones to get anywhere close to it are muslims with their religious ban on alcohol (which still sees a lot of avoidance)
Vomit sinks are a smart way to avoid a lot of cleaning work.

@nipos While it is uniquely German as far as I know it isnt terribly common.
