A picture of a Radio Shack circa 1950. Its a shame self-repair is virtually non existent and shops like this and radio shack themselves, are quickly disappearing. I remember when I was younger you could go there and any electronics part you could imagine. Now they cant even give away what little inventory they have.

@freemo I spent most of the 1960s buying components at shops like Radio Shack in the UK. It was fun! Many retailers in the UK have disappeared in recent years and those left probably won't survive COVID or Brexit. Here are just some of the stores that disappeared from the high street and retail parks.

@iankenway What a shame. I'm stuck wondering if Brexit will be a savior for them or doom them.. On the one hand the temporary economic chaos might doom them as you imply. But due to a restriction of movement of parts and repair across borders it may actually be their savior and show a revival of the industry.. I'll be curious to see how that plays out.
