Yes I made a 1/2 lb burger, yes I’m american.

@a7 To be fair the burgers are bigger in europe :) The shops I recall going to had 250g and 500 gram burgers that they weigh in front of you. Was a bit surprised to learn that the rumors of americans eating bigger portions really didnt pan out to be true.

@freemo 250 just sounds like they are doing closest easy half to match half pound, 1 lb wouldn’t even fit on a standard sliced bread or bun, maybe French bread portion.

@a7 For reference here is what a 500 gram burger looks like on a bun. The bun is certainly not on the small size for a burger bun, but not comically huge either.

@freemo is the fat content low or something? Still doesn’t look like a lb burger

@a7 I have no idea what the fat content of the burger in the picture is. But of the burgers I've eaten in the netherlands it depends. The best burger places (this is common) offer a choice of which type of meat you want each one with a different fat level and from a different type of cow.

Keep in mind a double quarter pounder from mcdonald's is obviously half a lb and it doesn't look particularly large. The weight is usually precooking so it tends to drink and not weigh the described weight once it is served, which is also the standard in the USA when describing burger weight.

@freemo they were sued over it being under a 1/4 lb because its precooked weight

Follow

@a7 do you have any reference to them being sued? Using pre-cooked weight is the defacto standard in every restaurant in both the USA and Europe. It is also how nutritional labels tend to be indicated

@freemo I’m aware its a standard ive worked in food a lot but a double quarter pounder is still two 4 oz paddies either way.

@a7 Of course it is, that's what I said, a half lbs total, consisting of two parties each of a quarter pound.

Not sure where the disconnect is here.

@freemo completely ruined my burger enjoyment experience

@a7 You did that to yourself.. next time someone says "we got some big burgers in america" maybe not spend half your lunch arguing about what a 500 gram burger is?

@freemo well actually in Europe derderder see my 9gag image. Now let’s talk about burger weight standards.

@a7 and your still going.. no wonder you ruined your burger... might want to try shutting up and eating yoru burger, might actually enjoy it if you dont go around acting a fool cause someone shared a burger picture with you.

@histoire

It is, yes, welcome! Feel free to join the trolling, though you might have it too easy, this guy just sits here trolling himself then throws a fit when he gets his undies in a bunch.

@a7

@freemo @histoire there are people into this endless arguing autism if this is what you desperately crave

@a7

No one cares about your ranting dude.. you just spent 6 messages arguing about the weight of a double quarter pounder cause someone said "A double quarter pounder is about half a pound total"... which is kinda funny considering a toddler can add two numbers, but hey, keep arguing with yourself about how much a double quarter pounder weights, I've been over it 10 messages ago you just keep going and don't shut up.

Entertaining though.. please continue.. ill watch

@histoire

@a7 @histoire @freemo no! this crime cannot go unpunished! freemo you now owe a7 a 500g burger (subject to all standards and regulations that wish to apply)

@namark

I would but then he might spend another hour arguing with me about what its real weight is. Its a no win situation.

@histoire

@freemo Being the sole judge of this thread, I volunteer as a burger weight arbiter. I will confirm the burger weight through a photo (a proven method a7 employed himself).
