As disappointed as I have been in Rand Paul, who is a disgrace to the Paul name from a political standpoint I have to say, Ron Paul is still the man, love this dude!

@freemo I thought this was timely and part of the reason why I like this woman so much. Folks may not agree with her policies but it's hard to question her convictions.

@pants WOW... I have to admit I have pretty dim view of AoC from how she "earned" her election to her unresearched and off based diatribes... BUT with that said, she just earned some major points calling out Biden, though I'd like to see how far that language goes on more detailed questioning. A single twitter post in isolation is pretty weak in and of itself, but its a start.

@freemo @pants it's going to take a lot to prove to me that she doesn't just say whatever focus tests well in her market. esp. after her getting caught making up egregious stories about how much danger she [wasn't] in.
@freemo @pants we almost had a bridging moment when Cruz (R-TX) gave her the thumbs up on one of these good takes but she immediately freaked out and spun it instead so. i dunno.

@icedquinn

She is a god damn idiot, but I dont think she does it because its what gets her votes or what is popular. I think idiots tend to think alike, particularly when they are part of the same political church (party, set of principles). She tends to pander to her public just because she is the same sort of idiot they are, of the left sort.

In many ways AoC is just the left-wing version of Trump, a moron, too emotional to actually plot or manipulate anyone or anything, there is no mouth filter. For the most part its a bad thing, but it also means that they dont have much party loyalty because loyalty means knowing when to shut up and not complaining..

Lack of party loyalty is probably the one good aspect of both Trump and AoC

@pants

@pants

I have no idea if AoC made up anything about the riot at the capital or not... but i will say this, Snopes is a horrifically inaccurate and biased source. Probably the last thing you should be citing as fact... best to provide reliable sources if you want to counter the point being made.

If I see someone use Snopes to make a point in my mind it immediately discredits them as a reliable source in a discussion, no offence.

@icedquinn

@freemo

what's your reasoning for that? they've staked their entire reputation on being unbiased, have a totally transparent editorial process and cite primary sources.

@icedquinn

@pants

Track record as someone who spends a lot of time fact checking, and myself being left-leaning (so I am biased to be more agreeable with left leaning biases). They have shown to be consistently and extremely biased in my personal view (and the view held by many others).

I have seen them post things and claim "False" or "True" and then the explanation has loaded, clearly biased language and written to do some mental gymnastics where ultimately its own description directly contradicts its own False or True rating.

I am a professional data scientist too, and its not uncommon that I have to get pretty deep in the weeds on some issues and will often see Snopes making claims that the data can even objectively contradict.

The only people who seem to think snopes is a genuinely unbiased source are people who strongly lean liberal. I rarely find centrists or right-leaning individuals are ignorant to their bias, which should be a red flag as well.

@freemo

People entered one building.

She was in a building on the opposing street from that building.

A DCPD officer showed up to whisk her away with the other representatives.

Her location doesn't seem to be contested. Her interaction with the DCPD officer varies.

@pants

@icedquinn

What exactly did she say (a quote would be nice) that you feel was a lie?

@pants

@freemo @pants

i don’t believe Cruz tried to have her killed.

i also think she was playing up the actual amount of danger she was in for ratings, but may have believed she was (or genuinely may have been in some, since the representatives were being moved out of the site.)

@icedquinn

I still have no idea what she **said** that you think implies all of that.. what did she say, exactly (the quote or source) you are refering to?

@pants

@icedquinn

Thank you. I strongly agree on the first link that her statements in the tweet were baseless. However your specific wording, and the details int he second link are highly misleading (though she is still an idiot for making the tweet IMO).

The exact exchange went like this.

Reporter: "You tweeted he tried to have you murdered at the capitol riot"

AOC: "Ok, so thats not the quote, and I will not apologize for what I said"

She was entirely correct when she said that wasn't the quote, it wasn't. The words the reporter used were not the words she tweeted. However she did not deny more generally her remarks and even went on to explicitly say she wouldnt apologize.

So the heading of the second link is entirely wrong and dishonest which says "AOC Claims She Did Not Allege Cruz Tried To Have Her Murdered", she did not make that claim, she said it wasn't the quote, thats it, she did not deny that she felt Cruz's actions were trying to get her murdered (as absurd as that accusation is).

On your other point that she was playing up the actual danger she was in.. yes I agree there, she was. But I also think she believes it. She is an emotional mess, everything is 10x worse than it is in her mind and I think she sincerely believes it. Her emotions are not in check and it effects her ability to see reality accurately.

@pants

@freemo @pants i couldn't really care less what the journalist wrote about the claim. it was there as a secondary means of verifying the content of the tweet, nothing more.

@icedquinn

Fair, the tweet was confirmation enough of her stupidity in this case.. the fucked up thing is, if she just didnt exagerate everything she might actually have a legit argument some of the time. Like if she had said "put my life in danger".. while I still wouldnt blame cruz for that, at least then it doesnt sound like she is intentionally leaning on the hyperbole

@pants

@freemo sometimes the correct response is to just say nothing.

@pants

@icedquinn

Thats not AoC's thing... she is constantly on a rampage with everything.. the sky is always falling when AoC is around.
