@mur2501 well thats why i said "or religious".. as i recall you live in india so i figured it was either an indian tradition thing, or some religious thing not related to indian tradition.

Well basically Indian traditions means Hindu traditions and Hinduism is a religion.
@mur2501 I personally wouldn't use that language, not saying it is wrong, obviously Hindu has strong roots in India. But I try to separate out secular traditions and religious traditions when i talk about traditions as I feel that is a very important distinction. There are christian and Muslim Indians too and unless they are immigrants they would in all likelihood have just as valid a Indian culture in their home as a Hindu would.

Here traditions are deeply connected with religion. now ofcourse there is some mixing but at the end it is useless to seperating traditions from religions here.
