I wonder if parents who teach their kid to smile a certain way, specifically encouraging them to "show their teeth" realize just how photogenic they are raising their kids to be. Whenever I see an adult smiling that on a camera it looks so bizarre and forced it takes a willful effort me to not show the cringe on my face.

Ya'll out there looking like this.

@freemo
I was in my late teens before I realized there were people that actually smiled showing their teeth (and that it wasn't just a toothpaste ad thing). I haven't noticed anyone it looks particularly bad on though.

@digital_carver sometimes its subtle enough it doesnt look bad. Thing is parents, at least int he usa, often tell their kids "show all your teeth" and think it looks good. They do this certain sort of really painfully awkward smile where they curl their bottom lip to make sure their bottom teeth show too. Much like int he picture I showed. It looks so ugly.

While kids generally grow up and it goes away as they smile more naturally i know 3 adults (2 are married and one learned it from the other) that still smile this way in their pictures and it looks so absolutely cringe worthy.
