@freemo I try:
1. Steak
2. Wordy
3. Pinch
Or other non overlapping words like that. My strategy makes it highly unlikely to score under 4.
I might try Adieu tomorrow!
@groovestomp
You know, I'll be highly amused if the secret word turns out to be adieu tomorrow. ;)
@trinsec
In a weird way i think it shows less skill to get it on the first try, at that point its just luck
@groovestomp
@freemo I think it's luck all throughout. Even with our strategies (no overlapping or reused letters, etc) there are still far too many possible 5-letter words in the English language.
There is always some element of luck, but strategies reduce that element. In fact if i used a regex-able dictionary (cheating) I could probably optimize a strategy that would win the vast majority of the time.
@groovestomp
I start with adieu to cover the vowels and d being a common last letter on words. Then my second word depends on what i get in the first but i try yo throw in a o and an r and make sure it is at least a possible solution given the hints on the first line.
So for today for example my second word was rotor since i knew o was the only vowel through process of elimination. Worked well today as i got it on my 3rd try. So far ive won each day in 3 tries, bit i need more of a history before i can claim that as a trend.
@freemo I've been going with "roast." I was trying to find something close to the RSTLNE that they give you in Wheel of Fortune. It's been working pretty well.
@freemo That's not a bad one. I've done... Magic, Tower, etc, as long as all the letters are different. Same for next word, all letters (except possibly either kind of matches) are different. Might take on Adieu too, those vowels are sometimes bloody hard to catch.
