@LouisIngenthron there are tons of different servers already built on the same protocol.

Bonfire seems at first glance to be a modular fediverse server, which in its own right thats kinda nice. But in reality it was designed to be a fediverse engine to enable people to fork it and write their own servers which is pretty nice. It is based on a plugin and modular desig which is also pretty sweet.

@freemo Right, but many of those existing services distinguish themselves by serving different types of content.

So, any new players need similarly distinguishing features to rise from obscurity.

Modular design could be that feature, but ActivityPub itself is pretty open to modularity on its own, so I wonder what the added value is in Bonfire...
