Of the three guns I own what is your favorite?
@JonKramer The AR is great for farms and a lovely rifle to fire.. There is a reason its the most popular weapon in the US
@freemo , yep. The perfect varmint gun, really. Cheap to buy, cheap for ammo, large enough calibre that you can hunt small game, pretty accurate. I am seriously considering an SU16, by KelTek. I know, they have a bad rep, but that weapon seems to be an exception to the rule.
@JonKramer next time I buy a gun just for the cool factor (I dont really need anymore) it will be a P90s
@freemo , as a Stargate fan, I agree. :)
@freemo, what I don't have anymore is a good rifle. I had an AR way back in the day, like the early 80s. And always kinda wanted another. But anymore, I just hate the stigma around them, even if it is totally unjustified. So, I'll stick with the 556, and a different style. Once the bullet comes out, it really doesn't matter what the rifle looks like.
@JonKramer I mean there are plenty of guns that perform as well or even better than an AR and of similar performance... but your right the stigma is entirely arbitrary and silly.
@JonKramer I should have said "and of similar specification"
@freemo , another on my list, and I will only get one, is the Henry AR7. 22 long rifle, and incredibly lightweight. But... I am that aberration... I once came out my door to find my yard full of pigs. I seriously feared for my life. And a 22 probably wouldn't have done the trick. As it was, I had NOTHING, and ran for my car.
@JonKramer The thing I love about guns is there are different guns for different purposes... your fear of pigs is a very different motivation than my fear of mob bosses :)
@freemo Yep! For mob bosses, I suggest something long range...
@JonKramer well im more worried about them kicking in my door and killing me.. so short range is where we are at mostly.
@freemo Shotgun. although your 410 will do it, I suggest a 12 gauge.
@JonKramer yea i was thinking about that.. here is the thing, a shot gun, like my AR, is large and bulky.. if im in bed the time it takes me to get one in hand and aimed is much longer than a handgun.. so I figured the judge might be a better choice
@freemo , a Streetsweeper is a big pistol, with 12 rounds, semi auto, and it's kinda cuddly.
@freemo They make short shotguns with pistol grips that are made for home defense. Just know the recoil on those things will be more significant than any long shotgun.
Did Elon just buy qoto.org?
@EubieDrew Thats a very odd question, what does Elon have to do with guns or self-defense?
Oh yea, I forgot about that... If elon werent so intolerable I might have snatched one up.
He also tweets about guns, but more to the point, he LOVES to post polls with no actual disonate option.
@EubieDrew Ahhh, gotcha :) Not surprised he is a gun lover though since he is so right wing (I'm generally left of center, but on guns I'm fairly right)
Hey, if you can keep the guns secure, and are safe from yourself, go for it.
I can't do either.
@EubieDrew Yea I mean look if your gonna own a gun there is a **lot** of responsibility that goes with that.
Me, my life is in danger and its fairly serious so I have a lot of motivation. In my case sadly I'll be sleeping with it loaded by my bed for a while with one int he chamber.
Don't want to mislead. I am 99.99+% safe from myself, but I don't consider that good enough, since there are likely ~8000 days of my life left to live through.
@EubieDrew I dive some of the most dangerous dives in the world... in terms of risk tolerance owning a gun doesnt even register as risk (though i do very much respect the danger and am very careful)
@freemo I'm going to go with the 556, because I have a small farm. Just a damn useful tool.
