@hans Yup thats how the world works. Even if you have a perfect police force if someone wants to kill you you will be dead long before even the quickest cop has a chance to be on the scene. Short of eliminating crime (which no society has yet to accomplish) a gun woukd be the only way you might survive

Unfortunately the NRA preaches that it's the other way around and (paid?) politicians seem to believe it.

@hans Well no, ive talked many times about ststistical analysis of guns and shown in the past how quite the opposite is true, that when you pass laws that restrict guns the deathtoll on homicides and violent acts sky rocket. Ive used dozens of different cou tries ststistics to demonstrate this.

The problem is most people dont really understand how to apply statistics for good analysis so you get a lot of misinformation on this that relies on poor principles (like casual correlation rather than proper causality tests)
