Just a reminder, no one needs to respect your opinions, not even friends. People shoukd be respected, but even then only sonfar as they return or earn that respect.
@freeschool If by respect we mean "treat politely" then i agree.
@freemo I didn't mean that by what I said, though that might be one variety of respect.
I meant they can exist therefore get my respect or be acknowledge even in negative sense. Bad example might be respecting that Hitler or bad people manage to get people's vote somehow.
Don't have to like them.

I go further in respecting... I respect they exist as my default but then slide the slider down if it's really needed..
For example: I respect bastards are good at what they do but they don't respect me.
I respect others respect other things.
I don't need their respect conditionally to respect them.
Does that fit into one of the types of respect you mean?
