For example, when you are taught about greenhouse gases in school, they don't tell you why no action is happening.
The political part is missing.
The thing is science is not separate from politics.
Similarly. technology is also not separate from politics.
And this is the compartmentalisation we do in education. That is the problem.

@freeschool yes. Categorization is super handy and all, but is super stifling in the sciences and education. Cross pollination of disciplines needs to be encouraged way more heavily. It's where novel insight comes from

@Bigolbootybuttcake
I liked what you wrote and *perhaps* this quote at the end of this writing is similar -

After the quote I was just just wondering if you would lightly agree or what you think about it since I liked what you originally wrote and wouldn't want to change it or something.
Thanks- quote is:

" Science is not separate from politics. Similarly technology is not also separate from politics.

And this is the compartmentalisation* that we do.
That is the problem. "

@freeschool I dont necessarily agree that all things are political always. Theres bleed out/crossover. Like moments when they certainly are political in use

Examples:
The CDC initially saying masks were not effective was 100% a political move.
I'm not convinced something like the james webb telescope is

Likewise for tech:
Current tech giants lobbying to ensure they can rob your meta data is 100% political.
I dont think hobbyists making wearable tech is at all

I hope that makes sense

I guess I'm coming from a macro view or the whole 'what things we are born into and who it was allowed by' and over time I think this overrules my thinking because well governments from the old mindset and still probably now are self-interested and use everything, lock it all up or make money from it... tech included.

So I perhaps getting nearer to what I mean deep down (needed a bit of circling) I recently also wrote about how "all technology comes from government', but I do get your points and well people who use things probably at some point have to consider how and were all these metals and stuff came from (not all nice, I think I assume / think / hear mostly from geographic-political land-grabbing type stuff and what felt before as colonies that we need to take over the world before the other colony does !!
And many colonies ensuring all the world becomes political in that sense...more than 1 hand can count and probably as bad copies of themselves as similar political empire templates.

For the person now though all that is like,,, oh thanks mum, s 'cool' a wearable advanced computer ^-^
"That would have taken a room itself back in the day!"

Didn't want to take away or confuse the original thing which was about Categorization and that got me closer to thinking how people categorise people (like blacks and whites back in the day) and what is still prevalent now using and basic binary itself (right back to 1's and 0's)... and at the hands of very politically made entities (yes gov and authority itself) So thing like this mentality, binary thinking, development and funding can't capture or don't capture very well the in betweens especially since MAN(Mankind) is the one designing it so kinda proves my point that it must be political in some way right from scratch with some non-political innocent inventors along the way which got steered into xyz war effort... All that has some ethos, purpose etc and then 1 million designers mixed in or thinking they are doing it for humanity.
But at the end 1 head company, 1 head regulator (government) = even more political (like war efforts before)

Computers at hands of all that round things up ignoring a lot and helps ignore the humanitarian situations (unless we really could do and develop humanity first and then preserve it using computers, but the other way around is really hard from machine mindset).
So without haring I think we're coming from 'stupid fucking idiots bottom of the barrel barbarian' / burning witches and other human mentality that I personally still see today and my fear is this is all just a cover and distancing from it at the top to make sure hands looks clean.... not much more clever than that or co-op as a command and conquer game.

Sorry it's a bit long.
Check out my recent post as a kind of positive realisation of perhaps the same games happening (mentality of command and conquer is really obvious from games industry and people still playing online shooting / war stuff finding targets... and even people talking about war and saving their chats in massive Gigabytes of cloud computer storage). Just war/leverage/consumption in many more ways!
Everything that couldn't bring money into the empire is not really used or funded (only if they really have to) so that's the overall onion skin over all the others onion skins... Traditionally not the human stuff ¬:( and that in itself is well chosen / political and consistent.
More of the same (s)crap writing wrote just a few hours ago and I think that can also see what I was going / coming from.

@freeschool yeah that's a lot to parse out, and I'm not gonna do it in 500 characters

But: to your about it all coming from a seat of power (government), I think that's where things are fundamentally shifting. Or at least has the capacity to

Tech used to be in the hands of the few, literacy was the same, as was knowledge in general. The decentralization of all these topics has been a net good for humanity

The pandoras box is opening imo. It's a matter of do we make it past the filter

@Bigolbootybuttcake
Thanks and Hey I appreciate the reply - speed reading my stuff is ok by me as it will overlap anyway and purify.

What you said sounds good to me and true. And let's see what is possible in the future...

@freeschool promethean fire. Idk. Current tech is spooky as fuck. I see huge potential in what humanity can do with a general concerted effort towards something better. I've been trying to engage with that idea on my main posts.

If you're interested I'd appreciate you reading and engaging in any dialogue that tickles your fancy. I think people could do something so beautiful with a proper bottom-up movement.

@Bigolbootybuttcake
I'm reading and looking to engage more with you. Will make a pick and choose list shortly...
