et go or be dragged (and similar phrases)...

█ Let go or be dragged (and similar storyline comments from,"Finding Nemo" and general quotes around from a quora page)...

TLDR = █ - see for main quotes

"Marlin is faced with this clearly inevitable death. However, as he is hanging on for his life, and knowing he is about to die, he is asked by Dory, to let go. He knows that letting go will mean getting swallowed by the whale and die, so obviously either the whale is lying in order to eat them, or Dory is just wrong and her ignorance is about to get them killed. So Marlin has every reason to think that he is absolutely about to die no matter what, and there’s nothing at all he can do about it. And Dory tells him to “let go.”

█ He realizes that he is going to die, and then he accepts it, and this action marks a huge turning point for Marlin.

However, instead of dying, he and Dory are shot out of the whale, and land safely back in the water to continue their journey. In an instant, he sees that every single element of that situation that he believed pointed toward certain doom were actually positive forces encouraging him to relax. Because only in relaxing sometimes and letting go, do we allow ourselves the opportunity to have any kind of positive experience in life.

█ True, you might be surviving regardless, but surviving is not synonymous with living.

It reminds me of a line by Danny Aiello in Jacob’s Ladder:

█ "If you're afraid of dying, and you're holdin' on, you'll see devils tearin' your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freein' you from the world.”

Also this line from the Native American character in Cowboy Bebop:

█ “Do not fear death. Death is always at our side. When we show fear, it jumps at us faster than light, but if we do not show fear, it casts its eye upon us gently and then guides us into infinity.”
