Really weird when on the same workshop, initiatives are shown to reduce energy consumption of a research facility and in the same event someone presents howto (ab)use ChatGPT to do optimisations. 🤦♀️
Contrasts in Events and Wokshops...
@cweickhmann All those examples could point to the same source of problems or design of funding... an umbrella is over each, leading to the same outcome (like profit or control as the overall aim by funding it, so whatever the reasons for each being there, mostly they all come under the same "domination plan" somewhat - a bit like HP or Google sponsoring something. Or seemingly Firefox going towards one way but ultimately coming back to solving the profit-motive or effected by the "who pays the bills" factor
The above is important and typically frequently as power-player moves by players happen constantly - THIS what all movements need counter when goal posts are moved or renamed or rug-pulled etc - else they face those kinds of contrasts and massive jumps in their moral needles as one day the program is changed or funding cut. Most of those things are to skim the best 'tricks' to use them under Capitalism's flag even if it seems independent for a minute and cool.
TLDR for the above could be it's just another way to harvest something they can leverage or new for "Capitalism" or it's players paying the bills.

SIDE TOPIC / SIMILAR IN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT WAY BUT STILL UNDERMINING OURSELVES:
Example is the amount of Google / YouTube links we are effectively broadcasting here on Fediverse... like a bit of ad-farm or tracking source... but if developers use Google and don't see inherit dangers or don't warn / train their users or offer auto-replacement, then Mastodon surely has it's days numbered the same... just a matter of time (and money that we supply to them by linking everyone using direct / unfiltered links.)
So for example this Invidious link below filters bad stuff (code and adverts) which is better than direct Google YouTube links you see littered on Fediverse and even developers themselves oblivious ( maybe even you :? ) :
