Martin Niemoeller's is an example of people who supported the Nazis for a good while (OR SUPPORT CAPITALISM LET'S SAY AS MODERN VERSION) and then flip themselves down the line to realise "no...." it's not the way for me...

TLDR = Niemöller's belief was that Germans had been complicit through their silence in the Nazi imprisonment, persecution, and murder of millions of people.
