Becoming educated means you will encounter ideas that make you feel uncomfortable and challenge your notions. When educators demonstrate they cannot stand challenging ideas without becoming offended, then they cease to be effective educators.

While IT professionals may not exert direct control over teaching and school management decisions, the priorities they set and the devices and configurations they deploy do exert influence on what happens in classrooms and how it happens.

A completely debunked theory usually has as many adherents after the debunking as before .

Should we be more concerned about hallucinating AI making decisions or hallucinating humans making decisions?

Took a road trip today and we listened to and talked about Zevon. We decided no character in song ever had a worse day than the one who said:

I’m hiding in Honduras
I’m a desperate man
Send layers guns and money
The **** has hit the fan.

Occasionally, I share a “hot take”that elicits responses. It’s interesting to see those who confirm my insight and those who are astounded at my ignorance. They are both usually right.

People who work in education are a funny bunch. Some are the most generous folks you’d meet. Others… not so much.

“Undeniable facts” are usually denied eventually.

@garyackerman not quite right. CEOs lack the IT expertise to make decisions. They rely on the CTOs to justify recommendations and provide alternatives.

Unfortunately school leadership has failed to invest in properly trained professionals to advise them on issues like cyber security. They are often advised by vendors who have conflicts.

I recently broke my phone. The new one has been ordered. I'm kind of excited to get it.

School administrators must supervise school IT professionals and they must evaluate school IT decisions, but (in my experience) they lack the expertise to provide the necessary oversight.

Do users perceive IT systems to be adequately supported?

Are there other IT systems or functions users value, but are unavailable?

Do users perceive the system to be effective in their work?

IT leaders... if you don't really know the answer to this question, you are probably wasting time and resources.
