How experts apply knowledge in their lives is important to teach, but so is how it can improve students' lives and their decison-making.

I heard through the grapevine that a former student interviewed for a job as an IT professional. My names came up as individuals on the team know me and knew the connection. The candidate praised my classes (close to 15 years ago) as I designed them to give students experience with lots of devices and systems. Doing so wasn't in the standards, but I did it anyways. Apparently , it served them well.

Creativity is a reorganization of what exists in an environment to create something new (and often initially incongruous). It happens within a learner, then is reflected back into the environment.

Humans introduce purpose, intentionality, motivation, and meaning to the interactions that produce new knowledge. AI does not... yet.

Educators should arrive with the ability to adapt to new models of computers, and with a general awareness of how computers function and how to create documents and navigate networks.

The most important skill or proficiency or outcome for students is the ability to learn.

It is unfortunate that educators allow experts and their data to go unchallenged.

Autonomy is grounded in authority to make decisions and the competence to identify and affect a solution. We often have plenty of competence, but no authority.

I want to know when I am failing immediately so that my staff and I can come up with a new plan and students are not exposed to something that isn’t what we want.

Hosting your own servers is great, but if they go down when campus is closed, ya gotta have a plan.
