Learning is a vastly more complex phenomenon than is allowed in the popular culture and in many classrooms.

The imposition of one’s preferred method of instruction on all teachers in all subjects who teach all populations of students is something school leaders should avoid. They don't, but they should.

Long division is a technology... its is a soft technology... but a technology nonetheless. There is nothing special about it, except that you were taught it when we did not have better technology.

I am one of those IT folks who blocked Wikipedia on the school network until I realized what I had done. That event has affected by decision making since.

My son rewrote his resume using AI. He used it in the way he "should." He wrote prompts based on his experience and kept the accurate stuff and edited it. This is just the way that made sense to him to use it. Maybe we trust folks to use tools.

Message to those who speak to every question or issue in a meeting: No one is listening to you.

"Creating your own reality" just know that others will reject it, and distance themselves from you if it contradicts reality.

How experts apply knowledge in their lives is important to teach, but so is how it can improve students' lives and their decison-making.

I heard through the grapevine that a former student interviewed for a job as an IT professional. My names came up as individuals on the team know me and knew the connection. The candidate praised my classes (close to 15 years ago) as I designed them to give students experience with lots of devices and systems. Doing so wasn't in the standards, but I did it anyways. Apparently , it served them well.
