“Nature is a formidable foe. And in the long run, it tends to get its way.”
― Michael Bihovsky

This is true whether Americans care to think about it.

Job automation is a major concern. While AI can increase productivity, it also has the potential to displace workers. We need to prepare for the future of work.

The spread of misinformation is a growing problem. AI-powered platforms can amplify false information, with potentially harmful consequences.

"The most remarkable discovery in all of astronomy is that the stars are made of atoms of the same kind as those on the earth." -Richard P. Feynman

The future likely holds a collaborative relationship between human and artificial intelligence. Understanding the respective strengths and limitations of both forms of intelligence will be crucial to harnessing their combined potential for the benefit of humanity.

There is a reason we cannot define artificial intelligences. We cannot define natural intelligence.

Pattern recognition is a core function of both human and artificial intelligence, but humans leverage a broader understanding of context.

General intelligence is hard. Expert systems are easy.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." -Richard P. Feynman

Just because visualizations can be made does not mean the should be made.

"Technology is eroding our privacy and our freedom." - Edward Snowden

Active research is fine... expect for the fact that it justifies existing prejudices.

I'm nearing 100% of my Gmail account. Do I ditch it and start a new one?

The plans to improve IT in schools got researched. It was rescheduled when the term was editing. 🤦‍♂️

I still remember "David." He complained about having to grade exams... multiple choices exams... when I was there to help him design courses online.

Some folks just like to complain.

AI in education can systems utilize student data, such as their learning pace, strengths, weaknesses, and preferences, to create tailored learning pathways. This can involve:

Adaptive Learning: Adjusting difficulty levels in real-time based on student performance.
Content Recommendations: Suggesting relevant learning materials based on individual needs.
Personalized Feedback: Providing specific insights and guidance based on student work.

Haven't we heard such things before?

It is important to use AI in a responsible and ethical way to ensure that all students benefit from its use. I am not sure we can, however.

Unsupervised learning, in contrast, works with unlabeled data to discover patterns and relationships, often employed in clustering (grouping similar data points). This is what is challenging to humans.

Machine learning (ML) uses algorithms to mimic human intelligence, enabling systems to learn from data and perform tasks without explicit programming. Sounds great, but the real value in human learning come from outsides human intelligence.

“Do you know what we call opinion in the absence of evidence? We call it prejudice.”
― Michael Crichton
