Looking at the video screen if students who are streaming videos during class and I realized kids are exposed to way more advertisements at school than previous generations.

"Bad grades" an indicator of circumstances? We usually blame the students. Boredom? Irrelevance? Disconnect between instruction & assessment? These all seem equally likely.
