Was Moore's Law a prediction of a target rather than an observation? #technology
"The best way to invent the future is to predict it--if you can get enough people to believe in your prediction, that is." -John Perry Barlow #technology #innvoation #leadership
#Invention (is the creation), #innovation (its improvement), #diffusion (its spread throughout users). To completely understand #technology and its influence, all three are essential.
The machine cannot be divorced from its larger social pattern; for it is this pattern that gives it meaning and purpose." - Lewis Mumford #technology #society
I tweeted this in 2018. It may be more accurate than I thought:
We assume (falsely) that #technology and it’s advance is rational and can be controlled by humans.
Humans are social animals. The culture in which we live influences what and how we learn. #edreform #education #students
When you sit in a #classroom where the #teacher doesn’t know #students’ names, it is obvious... and uncomfortable... and sad.
IMO: #data, #research, #evidence is given only cursory role (despite the rhetoric) in #education. Without having a habit of mind to doubt our data, we cannot know when we are deceiving ourselves.
