“Do you understand that I f you do x, the y is likely.”
“Yes.”

Please stop complaining when y happens after you do x.

You can believe all you want about teaching, but when it gets down to it, if your methods don’t align with how human brains work, then all is wasted.

Questions are more effective at organizing lessons than learning outcomes.

“Fashionably apocalyptic” is my new favorite term.

“Brains can’t download?”

You have heard of writing haven’t you?

If you claim to have proof, then you are obligated to share it.

IT professionals often say "that's the way we do it." At least they have a reason as the IT they add often depends on the IT they have.

Just me over here judging you by the folks with whom you associate.

“Tools confer intelligence.” I don’t think this is wrong.

I’ve paid attention long enough to know: The more vehement your position, the more likely it is wrong.

“Natural selection is positive and constructive.” - Richard Dawkins

Those who argue “god exists because life could not be generated by random processes” fail to understand this fundamental fact about evolution.

Four folks tried to make supportive comments in public about me and my department last week, All four failed miserably and made us look like incompetent fools. Any advice?

What if education was focused on “How will you find out?”

Doctors: “Our medical degrees are better than your Google search”
Me: Goes to doctor
Doctor: Takes out his phone during visit
Me: Recognizes Google page on the reflection in his glasses

In schools, I have seen narcissistic cliques among adults for decades. They always turn on each other in time. It’s funny, until you realize they are educators.

Just because you have an opinion does not mean I’m obligated to give it serious consideration… especially if I am an educator.
