Hybrid meetings are a permanent part of professional life. Please stop having side conversations during meetings. Remote participants only hear garbled speech when you do.

Problems. Ground you teaching in problems.

"What works" in education depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

Be careful what you teach students first. It is likely to be their "go to" method of solving all problems.

The more the teaching method resembles engineering, the less effective it will be useful in lots of classrooms.

The "least offensive curriculum" is what finds its way into textbooks. If we teach only what is there we prepare students for little in the real world.

Definitions are fine, but they impose boundaries that often get in the way of understanding.

A colleague and I finally had a conversation about someone who used to be our boss- at different times and different places. We concurred on his limitations. That was reassuring… although I knew I was right.

“We can’t measure it, so it doesn’t exist.” Maybe, or you just are not clever enough to be measure it.

One thing I learned during 35 years teaching: Learning objectives are meaningless for many students.

Beware the candidate who has a great resume but who cannot describe examples of how they have done what they claim. They were riding others’ coattails and will be ineffective.
