Placing full control with the learner is problematic; what learners prefer isn't always what's best for them. Excessive choice can be frustrating, and learners may stick to tasks they already like or are proficient in.

Why does the learning styles myth persist? Learners are different (a true general claim). It also fits an egalitarian view, implying everyone has strengths, and has become "common knowledge" through confirmation bias.

There's no credible scientific evidence that learning styles exist or that tailoring instruction to preferred styles improves learning outcomes. This belief is a pervasive urban legend in education.

What assumptions do you make about your students?

“None” is incorrect.

“True” and “politically popular” are not correlated.

Clever ideas work until equally clever counter ideas are devised.

“The candidate is not a good fit” is substituted for “this person would be ‘smarter’ than their potential boss.”

“Innovation is not a loaner’s endeavor...”

Remember, vendors don’t market to those who are critical users of IT and service. They market to those who control the money and who can check off problems they solved. “We addressed that problem by working with...” is a very comfortable and familiar position

No, Zoom is not a great way to lecture at a distance... Google Meet? No not that either... no it has nothing to do with Zoom or Meet... it has everything to do with telling students the curriculum.

It so obvious when leaders don’t understand math.

“As you can see in this graph....” No. No we can't. It is a poorly designed graph.
