@thor HAHAHA! Both are funny :D
@giuseppegv on ChromeOS I just use Google services :) On MacOS I'd have to use other apps.
Some really minor things like being able to activate the hotspot on your phone directly from Chromebook is slick.
I don't do much stuff with my phone and the PopOS box together though, so I wouldn't know. I'm sure there are some ways to integrate with Android though.
I'm being a tiny bit picky here, but I don't like the look of the new volume bar on #ChromeOS117
It is kind of chunky! #ChromeOS
One advantage of switching away from iOS to #Android for my personal phone is that it integrates so nicely with #ChromeOS, which is what I’ve been using as my main personal laptop for the last few years. The #Google ecosystem is actually pretty nice. FWIW, main desktop is #PopOS
Summary: I don't think I'm going back to iOS for my personal phone.
Another addictive, little game I remember playing in the 90s. Windows 3.1 was an underrated gaming platform!
@freemo you'd have to actually swap letter positioning. Doable... but your typing speed will seriously suffer 😀
@freemo now you got me thinking. There’s a challenge here to be met. There’s got to be a way to create a keyboard that randomises the sound it emits artificially. Surely there’s a market for a high security keyboard.
@darnell@one.darnell.one @BBCRD @darnell@darnell.day I’m hopeful that institutions and individuals will eventually see that the freedom afforded to them by joining the Fediverse with their own servers is unrivalled. 🤞 maybe the BBC has realised this and is willing to play the long game.
Twitter as we knew it is dead, it’s pretty much a cesspit now. There has to be a point soon where simply being there damages an institution’s image.
Great story!
I think there's another reason for BBC keeping a Mastodon presence while leaving Threads. It's the institutional aspect.
Setting up its own instance is a serious project to build BBC infrastructure. This means BBC on Mastodon is backed by a team and dedicated funding.
Meanwhile I'd guess the BBC Threads account was just thrown at the existing BBC social media team.
This links to why I think Fediverse has most potential, because the projects here are more serious.
@darwinwoodka @BBCRadio4 it would be interesting to see if couples who eat protein rich diets have mostly boys. It’s anecdotal, but we had our son when my wife and I went to the gym daily and ate a lot of protein, we had our daughter after when we didn’t work out as much or eat as much protein.
Every year more boys than girls are born, but sometimes the ratio gets even more out of whack. It's been called 'the returning soldier effect'. What causes it? Professor Hannah Fry investigates, on BBC Sounds.
#Meta will not be pleased that @BBCRD has abandoned #Threads while still maintaining their self hosted #Mastodon account.

Too Long; Did Not Read:
👉🏾 Many brands are abandoning Threads (including #NFL)
👉🏾 Meta’s geo news ban of #Canada 🇨🇦 could have spooked BBC
👉🏾 Lack of public Threads API makes it difficult to automate posting news
👉🏾 BBC just prefers Mastodon
This is my fun social media account, I will post a lot of video game stuff (mostly old or cloud gaming) and some work stuff.
If I post an image with no Alt text it is because the image is just there for decoration and doesn't provide any extra meaning to the toot.
