As Microsoft turns off its 360 stores remember that no matter what platform you’re on, you don’t own digital products - you’re just renting them. If you can’t download an installer then you’re beholden to the service. And even if you do have some kind of physical install media, how many games have released recently that have required day one patches to be playable? They’ll disappear too
@darth it’s true. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo seem to be trying hard to push people away from their console platforms into PCs. Eventually PC components will be affordable again and it will make little sense to be on console.

@lpacheco @thekitmalone because at top level chess is very skewed towards male players, under 40 of the more than 1,600 international chess grandmasters are women. The root cause of this performance gap is not know and is highly debated. There’s evidence there’s an intimidation component, when playing against an opponent blind studies have shown women play close to men and worse when they know the opponent is male. In any case, this is why chess is gendered, to make sure there are female champs.
I really do like the ability to get a live video view of home to make sure it’s all OK when I am away 😀 isn’t the modern world cool at times?
@darth There’s no solid line, it’s blurry. I wouldn’t say Xbox is mainstream in much of Asia, I’m here in the Philippines and XBox is rather niche. Then again it in mainstream in America. I’d also argue that Steam and the Deck are mainstream too now.
I’d say it is about popularity, is it common in a particular part of the world? If yes, then mainstream.

I'm now the proud owner of a Commodore Amiga A500! It's absolutely filthy and feels disgusting to the touch, but a good project to have.
I haven't tried to power it on yet, but as far as I can tell everything is there, what it needs more than anything is a really good clean.
There is a little damage in spots on the casing, especially the top left, but it's part of its story. If anything, it makes me want to restore it even more the poor thing.
