Since macOS was really not my cup of tea, I installed @AsahiLinux on my M1 MacBook Pro.

While I was expecting it to be alpha quality and very buggy, I was surprised to find a pretty great level of support for the hardware!

So here are my impressions, in video form: everything that works, what doesn’t work yet, and how to get it up and running:

I love that the most successful technology company in history acts like adding new products to their e-commerce website is akin to managing the system for selling Taylor Swift concert tickets online.

@avi initially I thought that was a deformed chicken.

@CodexNotFound indeed, it's basically flawless and categorically statistically significant. One of the best bits of research done in the last century.

Google prolonge le support de certains Chromebooks à 10 ans
Si vous avez acheté votre Chromebook en 2021 ou plus tard, celui-ci sera pourrait être couvert par 10 années de support logiciel mais...... #minimachines #chromebook

@darth I understand, yes. If you haven't got the right driver support you are kinda stuffed :)

I think with Proton Linux is in pretty good shape for gaming thankfully. Compared to MacOS certainly there's no comparison.

@darth I've been mainly using Linux for about 20 years so I don't notice it, I prefer it.

@darth I don't have that issue :) I really dislike Windows, so I'll be fine :D

@darth I'm 100% Linux for my desktops (including main desktop), ChromeOS for my main laptop (with Crostini and Debian :D ), and MacOS for work.

Zero Windows but I am contemplating installing Windows on a drive from a new desktop I'll be getting. Occasionally I do need Windows and I do have a VM running on the Mac, but it isn't juicy enough to test some of the Windows software we develop at work.

@darth yeah, they are not Google who say that they will stop supporting your Chromebook simply coz.

@darth I'm never going to say too many :) I think they should simply go back as far as practically possible without having to heavily compromise the new OS.

Isuzu working on a new 2.2L diesel engine allegedly to replace the 1.9L RZ4E. This may be the last one pre-full-electrification, considering the still-going J-series has been around (albeit changed over the years) since 1985 I don't think we'll see many more engines from Isuzu (at least not for small trucks and SUVs).

If the new 2.2L is less anaemic than the 1.9L and passes Euro emissions then this could be really good :D

Jumped over to the former birdsite last night to see what Devs were saying about UNITY's shinty announcement and its grim.
I really hope UNITY walk this back but think they have lost the trust of a lot of devs myself included. This is nothing more than corporate greed.
