It is fairly obvious that a car company like Ford would want a market like the UK to mandate EVs.

Firstly let me say that I like EVs, the internal combustion engine was always flawed, and moving towards motors that don't require complex gearboxes because their torque curves are so good is overall a GOOD thing for cars. Not only that but they are super quiet too and also they keep pollution out of cities and this is hugely beneficial for people's health.

But let's look at two markets that I know well. The UK car market and the Filipino car market.

The UK has a Ford EV called the Mustang Match-E, this is a mid-size crossover that's comparable size-wise to the Ford Territory and Ford Equators sold in Asia. The difference is that the Match-E starts at £51k here and the Territory starts under £19k in the Philippines.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that Ford wants to see a return on their investment in EVs by mandating them! The £51k crossover is more profitable than the £19k crossover.

@KiwiEV I just really like EVs :) every car can be a torquey thing that's never annoying to drive when you hit the hills. Even a small economy car like this.

Today I took the BYD Dolphin to the former home of Opo the Friendly Dolphin (predictable, I know) 😅 It's surprisingly peppy for quite a normal-looking EV. The official 0-100 time is 7 seconds, but it easily did 6.5 which is getting into hot hatch territory.
Video coming soon.

@Rjdlandscapes @ukuku @KiwiEV at this rate that's the best thing that could happen to GM. And this is coming from someone who historically was a huge Chevy fan.

@thejpster isn't a circle an equisided polygon where the number of sides tends to infinity?

@jellycrystals It's amazing how influential a teacher can be. A bad teacher could sway a smart kid away from pursuing a particular subject in the future. So much wasted potential.

I am really quite excited about the two new Z80 kits that will be listed on z80kits.com in the next couple of days. Spoiler: They are not RC2014 kits!

@Solid_Snail I'm actually super impressed by this port, sure some slow loading, but graphically it is fine. The Switch is today's ZX Spectrum, conversions are compromised but impressive nonetheless.

The upcoming controller seems to be pulling out of the controller dark ages straight into the present.

Two key features that were sorely needed are shown here:

* Accelerometer: Gyro aiming has become essential to many for FPS games, the days of having to use a third-party controller that allows you to map the gyro to the mouse or stick will finally be over! Native gyro implementations will be possible.

* Direct to cloud: Bringing the Stadia controller experience to Microsoft cloud gaming, this is really nice to have too! While Microsoft's cloud gaming isn't anywhere near as usable as was it is slowly improving, I hope that eventually, it will catch up to where was years ago.

I keep coming back to Lemmings on the Game Gear. While it is missing some graphical details compared to other ports, it’s a surprisingly full featured port. And it looks gorgeous.
