Also, does anyone knows how DHL eCommerce works?

It seems like DHL help me avoid at least 60% of the import tax.

Or "custom duty", I don't know the difference between those two things.

@hasmis

Hmmm, but as far as I know, they handed my parcel to China post and our local post office will deliver my parcel.

I heard about things like DHL paid the duty for you and then later ask you to pay more, otherwise they won't deliver your package.

The interesting part about my parcel is that, I ordered something from Canada, it then shipped to US, then head to German. From there, it becomes a EMS parcel (along with the tracking number like WD12345678, it got an additional tracking number like CG12345678DE). It's my local EMS service asking me to pay more so they can talk to the custom in my behaviour (cost 10 CNY, less than 2 USD), then they said my custom duty is 80 CNY (less than 15 USD), which is much less than I expected (300+ CNY).

Apparently, the seller used some e-commerce platform that handles the tax and shipping things for them, and according to other buyers, the seller seems to declare items properly. But my local costum said DHL, or the Dutch post declares my parcel was only worth 50 EUR, which it should be 250 USD. Also, my custom see the parcel is shipped from German, not Canada.

@skyblond That's exactly how I get all my stuff from China. Goes through half a dozen places, and the value is always declared to be a toy at $20 because that's the limit before duty is charged. Something to China from Canada must be maple syrup! :)
