George Hotz is an experienced coder / "lone wolf" type of hacker who joined Twitter to "fix search" in 12 weeks. 4 weeks later, he's thrown in the towel, with nothing of real impact shipped.

To me, this shows the difference between software engineering - aka working with complexity - and how "just" being good at coding is not what is needed at a place like Twitter, to succeed.

And yet, New Twitter has incentives set to only reward coding, not software engineering.

b) delete your Tweets, because their existence doesn’t help Elon and it’s like burning the Library of Alexandria.

Twitter captures a real-time historical record of a couple of decades and the billions of individuals’ snapshots are irreplaceable.

The thought of all those tweets being erased makes me feel physically sick.

I have #Covid and I'm in isolation with my husband. All the days have merged into one, and I've just realised we're going to be isolating on Christmas Day. :(

The kids have sellotaped us into one part of the house so we don't infect them; they have the kitchen, we have the laundry, and they fling food to us below our window.

Idk if an #ActuallyAutistic 'Lord of the Flies' scenario is playing out, but nothing I can do about it!
