This is REALLY important.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment and counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Let that sink in. It costs less than accepting homelessness.

The only Prime Day deal I’ll recommend is to leave Audible and join Libro.fm, which allows you to escape the giant’s (Amazon) grasp, support your local library and, if you subscribe with this offer, you get a free credit for any audiobook, with no strings attached so you can unsubscribe anytime. https://libro.fm/membership?mp=CHOOSEINDIE
@beccaowen So far loving your app! I see a lot of potential and it’s quite stable and useful in its V1.0. I’d love to see some things like sorting/reordering categories, instead of automatic sorting by name (so I can have all similar categories close to each other in its group), but I guess interactive widgets are higher in your todo list. Looking forward to what’s coming in the near future!
I can't get over how fractally bad a take this is. Like, aside from the obvious.
"Most fun product of the year" - it's a Twitter clone. That launched yesterday.
"Because their own elected officials…" - so basically if we accept the premise that this law is bad, it's cool to collectively blame all EU citizens for laws their leaders pass and mock them for any harm it causes them? This is coming from a *fucking American*?!
"Have fun in the library" - WHO DOESN'T WANT TO HANG OUT IN A LIBRARY?
The Reddit AMA as we know it is dead. "The decade-old team of moderators running Reddit AMAs (short for “Ask Me Anything”) are hanging up their boots and will no longer organize the popular Q&As. [They] think Reddit’s poor site management is beyond repair." https://qz.com/reddit-amas-r-iama-protest-api-changes-steve-huffman-1850600843
Me: Mastodon is the best. People are friendly, there's no manipulative algorithm, and it's full of interesting content.
Journalist: Amazing, the headline of my article will be "Mastodon is social media's new hope".
Me: Also, there are no ads.
Journalist: Interesting. Let's change that headline to "Mastodon is a toxic cesspool that is already dead".

The tech industry was living on cheep money and low interest rates, and now they're all afraid to let their precious content get used for AI training.
The walls are going up, the lawful corporate web is collapsing in on itself.
