@pluralistic I miss Trillian so much. It didn't matter what service a friend was on, I could talk to them.
And the chat boxes were tabbed! At the time that was a wild new innovation.
Testing posting directly to Mastodon from MarsEdit. The new v5.1 added support to handle a Mastodon blog (or account) directly from MarsEdit and it can be a nice way to quickly publish from my Mac without logging into Mastodon and going down the rabbit hole of scrolling through my timeline.

I took some images using a microscope that uses a technique that breaks the light limit, called super-resolution. It allows to show structures smaller than the light we see coming from them. Here the cell’s skeleton (actin filaments, that help cells move and keep everything in place inside it).

Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as #uBlock Origin will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).
The new #Chrome manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only #Google authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube #AdBlockers .
#ManifestV3 is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to #Firefox (@mozilla) and/or #TorBrowser (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!

That's why it was a huge mistake to greenwash gas and nuclear in your legislation. FR, DE, IT and others are the culprits here but you should have never been an accomplice to said greenwashing.
Besides, the "at least 42.5%" goal is nowhere ambitious enough.
In 2029, _global_ temp increase of 1.5°C will be exceeded, which means 3-4°C for countries in Europe.
Europe as a whole is a major emitter, both historically and currently, and must take responsibility accordingly.

The water heater broke today; the warranty expired a few months ago. Something similar happened with the fridge a few months ago. Is there a secret code in appliances that makes them malfunction as soon as the warranty expires? Maybe we can start a new conspiracy theory…
Finished today the Audiobook Red Team Blues, from @pluralistic A fantastic novel, perfectly narrated by Wil Wheaton. I don’t know how Cory will continue the saga, as the story is very well round up, but I’m looking forward to the second part next year!

The worst thing about online learning is that everything has become a video. Every code tutorial. Every design tutorial. Nobody actually writes out a guide anymore.
It's just "hey guys welcome to my tutorial" and watching 10 minutes of content that mostly isn't relevant...

Recently I bicycled in Haarlem in the Netherlands. There they are experimenting with solar panels as the top layer of a cycle path. The same space is used by cyclists as well as for power generation. This "Zonnefietspad" is sophistication, next level. I guess, it is due to lack of space that got them the idea to try out this technique. Being an electrical engineer by trade, it hurts me a bit to (mis)use such (formerly) precious technology as a pavement. I guess, I need to re-think.

Finished Avatar: Legend of Korra today. I know I’m late to the game, but I really liked it and was a good closing to the Avatar series. It started a bit meh and took me a while to get hooked, but they really stepped up and got a very well rounded story. I’m glad I got into the series this year!
