The company I work for scheduled a mock tornado drill today at 1:45pm CDT. People have asked for a while to have it rescheduled since it basically coincides with peak solar eclipse.
They do not appear to be willing to cancel the drill or reschedule. Clearly deliberate.
Glad I decided to work from home today :)
For those that are in the office today, I expect there will be a mass exodus at lunch.
I figured out how to get a woody in my mid 40s without pills. Just need a pair like these! #woodducks #birds #waterfowl
Adopted another bike in need of a good home. Rescued from Trek's Red Barn Refresh.
2022 Fuel EX 8. Swapped in my Line Pro 40s with XR4 up front, XR2 out back, carbon bars, and not pictured, four-pot XT brakes.
@freeschool Here are some more pics. The long rail is what's used to start the cuts. Lag bolts hold it to the log, then the mill slides down it to make a straight first cut. Then the saw rides down the log. Simple adjustment for thickness desired.
I use a ripping chain on the saw's 28" bar. Regular cross cut chains suck for milling.
@freeschool Here's a video frame from a smaller log being ripped last weekend. I can grab close-ups later.
Our equipment recycler that my employer contracts with sells the "old" and "end of life" machines from us (and other companies) for decent prices. Was in need of a new portable; so I snagged this Lenovo T480s that doesn't even look used (not a scratch) for just over $200. i5-8350U, 16GB, 512GB nvme, touchscreen (1920x1080). Such a nice system.
Wiped the Win10 install and put Mint on it and away we go. Why buy new?
Yes, trying to squeeze just a bit more sap out of my maple trees before they bud too.
I see a lot of people where I work doing puzzles. I wish they could help with the massive backlog of things me and my three person team need to do. About all they manage is to schedule meetings to have us figure out how we're going to get everything done.
Where I work, the auto.* Files for autofs (hundreds of application filesystem mount points) are symlinked to NFS locations.
I keep asking when will this be fixed and the response is always "it's been like this forever."
@ambulocetus Mosquitos, ants, flies, moths...all in February. :(
