@ahreaume I think that this kind of speech is important and does belong here. You did it correctly with a CW, so whoever told you otherwise is the one with a problem that they need to address.

I always saw the Blue Check as having nothing to do with account verification. There were always better ways to establish account verification.
No, the Blue Check was a simple means to establish a class system of users.
To those who had it, Twitter gave you privileges—created the notion that if you had a Blue Check, you were more important to them.
If you didn't have a Blue Check, then you were just one of the unwashed masses—there to be a pair of eyeballs.
