Read 'em all over the years, except for Robin Hobb's books (bounced off them, didn't like the style). Good, solid fantasy.

That was disturbingly elusive, with no real hint except the steady elimination of letters.

@chidgey Any forum that isn't closely moderated seems to devolve into a hate-filled mess. Man-children need their noses smacked occasionally to remind them how to behave like civilised humans.

Working my way through the vowels.

From the linked article:

"The disposal of organic waste poses an environmental challenge as it emits large amounts of greenhouse gases including methane and carbon dioxide, which contribute to climate change," explained RMIT University engineer Rajeev Roychand.

That is ridiculous. Organic waste releases whatever was used to grow it in the first place. It's inherently renewable. A really bad argument for this guy's coffee-flavoured concrete idea.

Getting laid flat by Covid last week, with lingering effects this week, put a line through most of my plans for the holidays.

On the plus side, I picked up my Kobo for the first time in weeks yesterday, and blew straight through “Palon” (by @skaeth) in a single sitting, and this evening I’m roughly 1/4 of the way through “Windward” already.

Recommended.

Was looking bleak until it suddenly wasn't.

Listening to this podcast about the "brave new world of AI in cinema", I realised I really don't care whether the actors in a movie or show are simulated, as long as I can't tell. I don't feel any parasocial connection to actors generally, so it makes no difference to me if they're not real people.

Others mileage may vary!
