On this day, February 18, 1885, the renowned author Samuel Clemens, (Mark Twain), released The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. This story is a follow-up to his novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876). Unlike the light-hearted tone of the first book, the new novel took a much more serious approach by exploring the topic of slavery and other aspects of life in the pre-Civil War South.

@LouisIngenthron You can go find those folks on those federations if you like. You seem to be interested in defending them. I don't have to subject myself to federations that contain people that don't believe I should exist.
YOU SHOULD QUESTION WHY YOU'RE OKAY THESE PEOPLE.

Now, that blocks all of the people on that server. Some of them COULD be cool...but honestly, why bother figuring that out? Just move on.

"...it’s also true that one of the most fascinating aspects of African American studies is the rich history of debate over issues like this, and especially over what it has meant — and continues to mean — to be “Black” in a nation with such a long and troubled history of human slavery at the core of its economic system for two-and-a-half centuries."
