It's like Wikipedia, but for maps.

I find information on OpenStreetMaps more complete than Google Maps; I don't understand why people is still using other kind of maps for anything that OSM can solve.

The idea of somebody creating her own restaurant map reeks of not knowing OSM even exists.

@globalmuseum Use OpenStreetMaps and their myriad of apps instead. Contribute, update opening hours, contacts etc. and tell restaurants they can put their website in there for free. Also: donate if you can, infrastructure doesn't grow on trees. 😇

Virginia lawmakers last week passed a bill that would require sheriffs to cancel their contracts with ICE, until and unless the agency accepts due protections and allows Virginia to prosecute federal officers who break its laws.

Might reread some old Tom Clancy books a bit to remind myself of calmer geopolitics.

Trump called a Texas Senate candidate "an insult to Jesus." The response he got is going viral — and it's not what anyone expected.

Talarico, who is studying to become a minister, responded from a church in Texas. "You want to know what insults Jesus?" he said. "Kicking the sick off their healthcare. Bombing schoolchildren in Iran. Deporting moms and babies. Covering up the Epstein files." The video of his response has been viewed millions of times.

When reading your tooth, for whatever reason, I inadvertently skipped the first line.

A really shocking story, until I became aware of the issue around the middle of it.

Matt Lewis shared this photograph of a sticker seen at a gas station,
giving Donald Trump full credit for the high price of gasoline:

The goal isn't to protect children,
the goal is to de-anonymize every comment and action on the internet, associating it with a legal ID, by eventually requesting official identification from every adult using a computer.

Some politicians have already stated this plainly.

This leads to censorship of anyone criticizing their government.

This leads to repression of marginalized people, especially immigrants, people of color, and trans and gender diverse people.

This leads to self-censorship of any comments or actions that could be interpreted against the system. Such as speaking out against fascism and authoritarian surveillance, or defending human rights publicly.

This leads to total control of the population and its tools of communications.

This leads to the end of democracy, centralizing power even more in the hands of a few.

Do not let them do this to us.

MSNBC Journalist David Rhode: "Iran offered to give away ALL of its enriched uranium during peace talks in Geneva. The British thought it was a credible offer. Hours later, Trump started bombing Iran anyway. The US didn't want peace, they wanted war."

Donald Trump:
•Blew up the Iran Nuclear Deal despite Iran's compliance
•Sanctioned & bombed Iran, claiming he destroyed their nuclear program
•And when Iran still came to negotiate & give up ALL its enriched uranium, Trump killed 175 Iranian girls

Don't Just Tax the Uber Rich, Reform the Corporate Structure That Creates Them

The real engine of inequality is structural: corporate and financial practices that concentrate wealth among shareholders while shortchanging other stakeholders who should be benefiting from corporate profits

The main reason the US military is as strong as it has been until now is his deep network of allies, allowing them to be everywhere and ask for help to tens of countries and get it.

Trump has weakened it, and so has made US military weaker.

And now is talking about retiring military bases from countries that don't help him in Iran.

Well, good luck making America great again after this bozo's presidency.
