In fact, given that getting the AIs running cost 10 times more than they are getting paid by clients, and their owners don't care because they are "creating a customer base", I'd dare say they are already being paid with visibility.
So, so true.
AI investors are a sort of creditors/family, and if the AI bubble burst, they are going to be seriously disappointed.
This is what happens when you make an app for an ecosystem based on a walled garden.
If it were an open source web app, Apple actions would be irrelevant.
