@impactology

Well, that's what statistical mechanics is for.

And it does it in a really, really elegant way.

Except for the time arrow, of course.

@memoriesin8bit @kenney

I'm starting to see webs requiring JavaScript or cookies in order to make their anti-AI defenses work.

Not sure it is really needed, not sure if it works, but it is sad seeing so many people needing them to keep their sites open.

It is DDoS-for-hire.

The money in the AI war is on the other side of the fence.

@QasimRashid

Because it has always been about THEIR race and THEIR priorities.

A friendly reminder that the people who:
•banned Black people from reparations, schools, military, GI bill, & FHA loans
•who lynched & are now locking Latinos into putrid concentration camps
•who locked Japanese people into camps & banned all Asian immigration
•who broke every single treaty with Native Americans while committing genocide
•And who are now gutting laws that helped counter that harm & passing laws to ban teaching that history...

They want you to stop making everything about race.😐

I think some countries are not entirely filled. A good example is Chile.

Also, what's wrong with (most of) English speaking countries? Don't they have workers? Do they have an alternate day for this?

Just got home from Spanish class and all 7 people in the class had a story about an older relative (mom, dad, grandad, uncle, aunt) who spends hours a day mindlessly scrolling social media and is completely unable to engage with the rest of the family during meals.

Tell me again why we're trying to ban kids/teens from social media and not just ban algorithmic social media entirely?

Acabo de ver The Apprentice.

Last Friday, without any notice, a contractor working for DHS cut a roughly 60-foot swath across the middle of the intaglio, doing irreparable damage to the 1,000-year-old artifact. theintercept.com/2026/04/30/ar

Anyone saying "Scientists don't want you to know this fact" has never met a scientist.

Scientists are famous oversharers.

@tferrer

Exactamente.

@MatthewNewell @cstross

Beware: the strongest tools the people have to keep the ruling class in check are violent revolution and worker's strikes.

The bid for letting AI overtake all jobs and replace them with UBI removes worker's strike power from us.

And violent revolution is more and more unlikely to success as the military is getting more and more based on drones and AI. Military people can have scruples about killing their own families and neighbours. AI doesn't.

Beware.

Dictator Erdoğan appointed İstanbul Governor's Office announced detention of 575 people to repress May Day/International Workers' Day so far today.
