¡Don Tomás a tod@s!

So here's Spain, a NATO country, doing what Ireland, a neutral country, seems unable to do.

@AssalRad Because the New York Times has had no presence in Iran since it had its press credentials revoked in 2019, it can therefore not independently confirm what the Iranian regime reports, including whose strike it was (American or Israeli). It would be unethical to report unconfirmed stories as fact. The article goes into detail about videos of the event, categorizing some as "reviewed by," some as "verified by" the NYT.

So, from today, refugee status in the UK will be limited to 30 months - and on each review, if it is deemed that their originating country is not longer dangerous, they will be returned.

Unlike other measures to 'toughen' the refugee regime, this can be enacted merely as a change in existing rules & this requires no parliamentary scrutiny.

If, anyone thinks this will win Labour votes in the local elections, they may well be disappointed!

Repito, no llaméis Microslop a Microslop.

The Trump regime “has a plan” the same way the Cylons in Battlestar Galactica (2003) “had a plan”*

Step 1: Bomb the fuck outta everyone
Step 2: 🤷🏻‍♀️

* they absolutely clearly did not have a plan
(Sorry about the season 3-4 spoilers for BSG)

The Houthis shot down the drones, but the plane loss was sillier than getting shot down.

Houthi rebels have no way of getting close to an aircraft carrier. None. Nothing they have can penetrate the concentric rings of defense around a carrier.

But if the carrier is silly enough to come close to the Houthi shore? Then Houthis can fire missiles at it.

If a missile is launched close to a carrier, it can deploy countermeasures and do evasive moves, and then jam the missile, so that the missile strikes where the carrier would have been, not where the carrier is now.

During these evasive moves, the carrier accelerates from about 15 mph to about 40 mph in under 30 seconds, and banks hard because it is turning. During this bank, the ship can tilt up to 17 degrees.🤯

Any airplane that is not chained down and doesn't have brakes applied and blocks, will start to roll.

The carrier got too close to the Houthis. The Houthis fired a missile at the carrier. The carrier did these evasive maneuvers. The plane rolled off the ship.🤡

So the F-15 is the most successful combat aircraft in modern history. 104 air combat engagements with enemy aircraft. 104 victories. Zero losses. A perfect record.

Only 6 F-15s have been lost to ground based fire in all history. 3 of those 6 were friendly fire under this Operation Epstein Fury.🤡

Add those 3 lost F-15s, to the F-18s that fell off of ships...🤦🏿‍♂️

And the helicopters that crash into civilian planes...😢

And you begin to understand why all this "warfighter" and "increasing lethality" talk is nonsense.

Competence matters. Communication matters.

I am not debating this with y'all.

Palantir Sues Swiss Magazine For Accurately Reporting That The Swiss Government Didn’t Want Palantir

Please note that Palantir would rather that you didn't share this story, it makes them look even more stupid if you do...

In case you were wondering, before this morning's Iran attack, Polymarket had yet another spate of likely inside traders betting that the US would strike Iran by February 28.

Per the due diligence investigation service Bubblemaps, the wallets used were first used 24 hours earlier.

Betting prediction websites are national security risks, not Anthropic.

Just to be clear:

I will not mourn or miss Ayatollah Khamenei. What a wretched person. The world is better off without him.

I will not mourn or miss Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein either. That doesn’t mean either the Afghanistan War or the Iraq War turned out to be a good idea.

U.S. "politics" i.e. war as a paedophile protection racket

@randahl

The American people are not wrong to demand the end to their oppression from the bloodthirsty President's regime that has American and refugee blood on their hands. You collectively are the ones that are wrong by refusing to come to the American people's aid and adding insult to injury, you're suggesting we should continue to negotiate with the religious Nazis in the White House. The bits of it that are still standing.

@randahl Can these asshats just shut up for once. The US has lost all credibility on the world stage and Trump doesn't give a flying fuck about the people of Iran.

Many innocent people have already died and it's only going to get worse.

@randahl Well, it IS sad to see a Western nation losing its passion for justice. Very sad indeed.
