¿No has notado algo usando Windows últimamente?

Life is stressful, so tonight I did some art. Not sure if I like it or not, that's OK. It was nice just to art.

Painted in procreate with default brushes, 1st gen apple pencil.

Hello migraine with aura my old friend… 😘

Could be fun to try to visualize that. The patterns are different every time and a mix of blank spots, blurry areas, and rainbow stars or rather twinkling chrystal patterns slowly growing and wandering around my field of vision. ✨

@timbray @nixCraft Both Apple and Google have burned their trust capital when it comes to these things, so it doesn’t really matter when they act in good faith towards their users and when they don’t, because everyone will treat them as if they act in bad faith. And it’s their fault.

Microsoft finally makes a few concrete promises about Windows 11 improvements

Earlier this year, Microsoft openly acknowledged the sorry state of Windows 11, and made vague promises about possible improvements somewhere in the near future, but stayed away from making any concrete promises. Today, the company published a blog post with some more details, inclu

My genuine hope is that this can spark a broader change. Empower communities on other platforms, and see this become a grassroots movement of users deciding whether AI should be welcome in their communities, and to what extent. On their own terms.

A pushback against the #enshittification and forceful push of AI by so many companies in these last few years.

My #Wikipedia request for comment just closed, finally banning #AI content in articles! "The use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited"

Kudos to all who participated in writing the guideline (especially Kowal2701) and the whole WikiProject AI Cleanup team, this was very much a group effort!

COMUNICADO

Chuck Norris was a right wing bigot who campaigned against same-sex marriage, supported the Obama birther conspiracy, and was just generally an all-around shithead. Fuck him.

It's important to remember that when #Orban does his #Putin bootlicking thing and blocks #EU funding for #Ukraine, all that happens is each individual country donates their share directly to Ukraine instead

It's still important though to make a big deal of it, to highlight what a massive piece of shit Orban is

the narrative has been controlled so much by AI boosters that even the people who are publicly skeptical of it appear to be operating from the default position that AI is powerful/effective/truthful/deterministic and then just trying to argue the morals, when a much bigger problem is that AI is probabilistic, but that's not one we can easily assign morals to unless we start deliberately twisting it into "the AI... is DISHONEST!"

Just seen someone saying they support bans on trans healthcare for under 18s because “let kids be kids”.

By the time I hit puberty, I had KNOWN for a decade.

I also knew that telling anyone would be profoundly dangerous.

So I hid who I was and, am almost grateful that the neurodivergence gave the other kids something else to latch on to. They were so busy calling me a “mong” that they didn’t notice I was trans.

Because that might have got me murdered.

Or pushed me into a position where I felt I had no options other than the same end result.

So I hid it.

And I hid it really well.

And one of the things that happens when a 5 year old child is terrified of their parents, or their families, or the school bullies finding out who they really are is that they end up traumatised.

A 5 year old child. Traumatised and ashamed.

Ashamed because adults openly talked about them.

Or people like them.

And what they said was horrific. What they said made it very clear that they would regard their own kids as subhuman monsters if they ever found out.

So we hid. And an important part of ourselves died in childhood. A light that should have shone, went out.

I’ve tried my best to rekindle it.

I’ve managed somewhat but it will never be right. Not really. I’ve made peace with that.

“Let kids be kids”. Trans kids like me never got to be.

Because of people who say things like that.
